The Entourage Effect
Did you know that the human body has something called an endocannabinoid system that keeps everything in balance, like your appetite, mood, and sleep? These tiny molecules act as little messengers and help pass signals throughout your body.
Did you know that the body consists of two cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, which receive messages from the endocannabinoid system?
That CB1 receptor is mostly found in the central nervous system and impacts appetite, memory, and motor control.
The CB2 receptor is found predominantly in the immune cells.
Now that I’ve schooled you on that, here’s how they work together for The Entourage Effect. Just like the body’s endocannabinoid system and receptors work together to balance the body, so does the cannabis plant.
Within the cannabis plant, there are many chemicals like THC, CBD, terpenes, and more. These chemicals work together and have their own effects on the body. However, when they all work together, they have an even more powerful effect on the body than if they work alone.
To begin to experience a full Entourage Effect, first smell your flower. Make sure your cannabis flower aroma is pungent, like the smell fills your nostrils and makes your insides smile. You know, like the happy feeling you get when you smell BBQ drifting through the air. This process is even more important than the THC percentage. Remember, your nose knows.
In my next post, I’ll explain how to read your cannabis product label to spot the specific terpenes you need to fulfill your desired Entourage Effect.
