Unfortunately, you will never see this chart posted in your local dispensary because, and again, unfortunately, our local dispensaries do not allow customers to smell the flower before they buy… no bud bars.
I have heard of one dispensary in New York State, I believe Long Island, that allows the entire sensory experience. We need more of these types of bud bars. I totally understand the liability of having “live” product on the sales floor, namely theft, but there has to be a method where customers can sniff the product before they buy. This trial-and-error technique of buying cannabis is a handicap for the ganja consumer.
If you have ever purchased weed from a neighborhood (street) budtender, the first thing they say is, “Smell this!” They know the “Nose Knows.” You have no idea of the THC percentage, the various terpenes, or how much CBD; however, you do know that if your nose starts to tingle from that pungent odor, it’s “GOOD s*#^!” This is the very reason dispensaries must figure out a solution that allows patrons the whole “Cannabis Experience.”

Now, take a look at the chart again and figure out where you fall on the spectrum. Keep in mind that your cannabis aroma preference has absolutely NOTHING to do with your taste in food, wine, or other palate desires. Remember, your taste in marijuana is primarily aromatic or flavorant. If your nose prickles at a sweet, fruity smell, then it’s Gelatos for you. If you’re like me and your mouth instantly begins to water from the pungent, skunky odor when you open that air-proof package, then you are for sure an OG Kush lover. If neither of these tickles your nose hairs, then you’re on the savory, garlicky end of the spectrum. This fragrant strain works best for food infusions.
Get in tune with your nose and let that dispensary budtender know where you fall on the Exotic Cannabis Aroma Spectrum!
Sniff, sniff, GAS!
